Scenic Outdoor Ceremony Spots Near Grand Lake
Rocky Mountain National Park
For couples drawn to dramatic alpine scenery, the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park offers several designated ceremony sites just minutes from Grand Lake. Popular west-side locations include Harbison Meadow, Holzwarth Historic Site, and Timber Creek, each known for open meadows, mountain views, and a quieter atmosphere than the park’s eastern entrances.
The east side of Rocky Mountain National Park offers over a dozen designated wedding ceremony sites, ranging from alpine overlooks to forested meadows near Estes Park and Bear Lake. Many couples choose to cross the Continental Divide via the unforgettable Trail Ridge Road, turning the drive itself into part of the wedding experience—exchanging vows at a scenic ceremony site along the way before continuing west. From most east-side ceremony locations, the drive to Grand Lake and The Wescott typically takes 90–120 minutes, depending on traffic and season. The result is the best of both worlds: iconic Rocky Mountain scenery for your ceremony, followed by a relaxed, private wedding weekend with lodging, dining, and celebration all in one place.
Ceremonies in RMNP are permit-based, with strict guest limits (typically up to 30 guests) and short time windows. Decorations are minimal, amplified sound is restricted, and food, beverages, and alcohol are not permitted at ceremony sites. There is no lodging or reception space within the park, making RMNP an ideal ceremony-only option rather than a full wedding venue.
Many couples choose to exchange vows in the park, then return to The Wescott for a relaxed reception, lodging, and a full wedding weekend experience.
AA Barn
The AA Barn offers a rustic mountain setting with more flexibility than public land venues. Set in an open meadow with a classic barn backdrop, it works well for couples seeking an outdoor ceremony with larger guest counts (often 75–120 guests) and fewer permit constraints than national parks.
While the AA Barn provides space for a ceremony—and in some cases a brief gathering—it does not offer on-site lodging and is typically used as a single-purpose event location. Couples often pair an AA Barn ceremony with off-site lodging, dining, and celebrations elsewhere in Grand Lake.
For wedding weekends that prioritize time together, guest convenience, and flexibility around food and beverages, many couples host their ceremony at the AA Barn and gather afterward at The Wescott for receptions, welcome parties, and overnight stays.
Point Park in Grand Lake
Located on the shoreline of Grand Lake, Point Park is a charming lakeside ceremony location with panoramic water and mountain views. Its central location and classic Grand Lake setting make it especially popular for small, intimate ceremonies, typically accommodating 20–50 guests.
Use of the park — including for ceremonies — is now first come, first served, just like other public park use. Food, beverages, and alcohol are generally not allowed, and there are no indoor facilities, weather backups, or reception amenities on site. Like RMNP, Point Park works best as a brief ceremony location rather than an all-day venue.
Couples frequently choose Point Park for their vows, then walk just minutes to The Wescott to continue celebrating with cocktails, dinner, and a full weekend of lodging and events.
Why Couples Pair These Ceremony Locations with The Wescott
While Grand Lake offers beautiful outdoor ceremony spots, nearly all are ceremony-only locations with limited time, no lodging, and restrictions on food and drinks. The Wescott fills the gaps these locations can’t—offering:
- Exclusive lodging for up to 34 guests
- Flexible reception and gathering spaces
- Freedom to choose your own caterer and alcohol
- A central downtown location steps from the lake, boardwalk, and dining
Whether you say “I do” in the mountains, by the lake, or on private land, The Wescott provides the space to slow down, bring everyone together, and turn a short ceremony into a meaningful wedding weekend.

Yes. You may personalize both indoor and outdoor spaces. We ask that you do not nail or screw holes in the walls. Yes, The Wescott is located on the boardwalk in downtown Grand Lake. Guests can walk to cafés, shops, hotels, and the lake are just steps away.
Driving from Denver, you must travel over Berthoud Pass. The pass is 3 lane, well maintained, and rarely closed due to snow. Winter Park Resort is just on the other side of the pass, so this is a well traveled route year round. You can also skip the drive entirely and take the Denver → Granby Amtrak train, about 2.5 hours, and we’ll shuttle your group 15 minutes to the hotel.
